What Others have said about us:
CAROLAN - The Last of the Irish Bards, by Pete Soucy "The themes of the play,
especially the idea of how to preserve a dying language and culture, still
resonate today, particularly here in Cape Breton. With her wonderful cast of
actors and musicians, Brett evocatively recreated the long ago world of the
Irish bard and gave her audience a chance to consider the fate of their own
island's culture." Ken Chisholm What's Goin' on Magazine - 1999
DOWN NORTH - the play of cape Breton's Magazine, by Ron Caplan and Ruth
Schneider " I was just blown away by the material, which was downright
Shakespearian in it's mix of savagery, pathos, comedy, and farce. It was
quite overwhelming to see the quality, the power of those stories." Silver
Donald Cameron quoted by Ken MacLeod Cape Breton Post1991
"The Players marvelous gift for creating real characters is at the fore
here, reflecting the Island's history of hardship and happiness" Ken MacLeod
CB Post 1993
THE DREAM by Beatrice MacNeil, BEDTIME STORY by Sean O'Casey " These two
plays represent an excellent example of the high quality theater that the
St. Ann's Bay Players have been producing for the last decade and a half.
Both plays shared a quartet of wonderfully engaging actors with unerring
comedic delivery and timing." "As shown by the high quality of the
performances, Ms. Brett has an excellent rapport with her cast and knows how
to blend their respective talents together to create delightful and
memorable performances." Ken Chisholm- Cape Breton Post 1995
UNDER MILKWOOD by Dylan Thomas- "The hallmarks of the St. Ann's Bay Players
over the years have been an interesting selection of plays performed by a
veteran cast. All characteristics held true to form as the group presented,
Under Milkwood......" John Hanratty CB POST 1986
